SPIRITUAL MESSAGE FOR MAY
Modern quantum physics shows us how human observation of the actions of
certain objects, such as atoms, causes those actions to change. But as they observe
the process, the scientists also experience changes within themselves. Some
quantum physicists have even postulated that there might be a component of spiritual
consciousness in science, just as ancient alchemists believed.
This phenomenon happens when we begin to observe our lives in depth. This
act of observation creates change as we become aware of deeply hidden aspects of
self. Our perceptions and beliefs about ourselves expand and shift, many times uncomfortably. We complain that things were a lot easier before, when we were
unaware, and now, by getting involved with all this transformational “stuff,” we have
more to deal with than ever.
Typically, when we begin observing ourselves outside the usual viewpoint, the
ego attempts to protect us by sabotaging the work we are doing, making the work
seem stupid or even dangerous. When the ego plants these fears in our minds, we
can then plead that we don’t know how to change. We rationalize that the work is just
too overwhelming. Our old belief in victimization may arise, or our inner critic may try to
prove the process as being one we shouldn’t mess around with.
Further, our friends may grumble that we just aren’t the same as we used to
be. They try to lure us back to the old ways in order that they may be comfortable
again. As old, previously unchallenged beliefs begin to dissolve, we feel lost and
afraid because justification for remaining the same is being extinguished. For many,
this is a frightening time.
Painful experiences are common during these times of deep change. They are
even necessary if our resistance to change is deeply entrenched. It hurts to pull out a
thorn but allowing it to remain is to create a festering wound. Some of us conclude
that it’s best never to become conscious for it’s too dangerous, too threatening, too
risky. We fear the changes it would bring about in our lifestyle. (Hint: in most cases,
lifestyle doesn’t have to change but perception of it does.) Authentic change is worth
the pain, however, because it is a process of dis-illusion-ment that frees us to a new
perception of who we are.
I hope you will take a look at the two e-books now available on this website.
One is a novel based upon my personal and professional experience of the various
processes we go through in our spiritual transformation. The other is a self-help book
that addresses many of the challenges we face as we grow spiritually. In addition to
basic information about these books, you will also find an excerpt from each, as well
as a discount if you buy both. Many blessings on your pathway.
